Gareth Malone, OBE (born 9 November 1975), is a British choirmaster, television presenter, and self-described "animateur". He is best known for his television series that aim to build community and boost morale through singing.
Early Life and Education: Malone was educated at Bournemouth School and studied drama at the University of East Anglia. He was a member of the Joyful Company of Singers, a renowned British choir.
Television Career: Malone rose to fame through his BBC television series. His breakthrough was The Choir, where he formed a choir from students at a comprehensive school. Subsequent series include The Choir: Boys Don't Sing, The Choir: Unsung Town, and Military Wives. He also created Sing While You Work and Pitch Battle.
Military Wives Choir: Malone's work with the Military Wives choir resulted in a Christmas number one single in 2011, titled "Wherever You Are". This brought significant attention to the challenges faced by military families.
Other Projects: Beyond television, Malone has been involved in various musical projects, including composing and arranging music. He's also worked with schools and community groups to promote singing and music education.
Honours: Malone was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2012 Birthday Honours for services to music.
